"It has been more than two years since a military coup d'état took place in Egypt. The military regime - also accused by human rights organizations of committing crimes against humanity against its own people- used all means to repair its image and normalize relations with the West. Dr. Elmasry examines image-repair in post-coup Egypt. Dr. Fadel analyzes how the legal system in Egypt is manoeuvred to serve political interests. Dr. Abu Zahra will discuss one of the aspects of normalization between the Egyptian regime and Canada by highlighting trade (especially arms trade) between the two countries."
